Standing Committees of the Board |
PURPOSES Regional Council Oversee and coordinate EMS activities for the four western counties. Activities include, but are not limited to, reviewing staffing waivers, approving medical protocols, providing input to the State office as requested, developing training programs as necessary, delegating tasks to standing and special committees and overseeing activities of committees. (See the mission statement for more info.) Executive Committee Act as human resources committee for staff. Oversee day to day operations of the office. Act in lieu of the Regional Council in those months that the Council does not meet. Recommend action to the Regional Council on issues. Act as the long range planning arm of the Council. Physicians' Council Provide input and recommendations to the Council on clinical issues and other issues as requested. Develop and modify prehospital protocols. Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement of semi-automatic defibrillation/Optional Skills and Interfacility Transports. Training Committee Propose/develop education programs to be put on by the region. Public Information/Education Resource Committee (formerly EMS Awareness)Promote awareness of Emergency Medical Services among the general public; set up and staff the EMS exhibit during the Eastern States Exposition; organize displays, etc. for EMS Week. Communications Committee Research and advise the Council on improvements and advances in EMS communications in Western Mass. In view of the regulatory changes, EMS communications is expected to leap forward in the near future. This committee will oversee the establishment of an effective Region-wide Communications Network. Trauma Systems Committee Oversee trauma system for Region I; propose criteria for trauma center designation; recommend designation to Council based on site surveys by ACS and adherence to Regional criteria; review adherence to trauma triage plan. Track trauma patients (where they go and how). Special Committees of the Board |
PURPOSES Awards Committee Review awards submissions and approve or disapprove; periodically review criteria for awards; propose changes as necessary; propose nominations for state ems awards. Bylaws Committee Review bylaws periodically; propose changes/additions as necessary to the Regional Council. Massachusetts EMS Conference Committee Assembles the event in order to provide an opportunity for emergency medical professionals to learn and discuss relevant patient care and management issues, as well as a chance to network, meet, and stay connected with other EMS professionals. MCI Committee Review existing county MCI plans and create a regional MCI plan that will integrate into the developing statewide plan. Nominating Committee Propose names for nomination to officers and at-large positions. Nursing Service Council Design and run nursing education programs; provide input as requested on ED/Trauma and prehospital issues; interact with other RN committees statewide. Provide a neutral forum for ED nursing managers to discuss issues affecting regional hospitals. |
